A small borough on the border of Lehigh County and Bucks County, Coopersburg is a scenic suburb of Allentown. While it is a relatively small community, boasting a population of 2,386 as of the 2010 census, Coopersburg has a rich history dating back to 1730 when the town was initially settled. In its early years, the town was known as Freyburg after a local tavern owner and judge who was one of the most prominent members of that community. Its contemporary namesake was also a judge, Peter Cooper, though it was also the site of famous cattle sales at the estate of Tilghman S. Cooper. The town has produced a number of notable figures, including athletes, musicians and politicians. The median household income in Coopersburg, as of 2010, was $43,603, though this is expected to have increased in recent years.
